On this website you will find details of my books set in various historical backgrounds. They cover a range of subjects and characters, some good, some bad, and some who manage to survive no matter what.

Generally they are written about people who manage to make a mark. Some are inspired by people I have known, some are historical figures, others are people as I perhaps would like them to be. Magnus Patricius, or to give him his full names, Magnus Succatus Patricius is probably better known as St Patrick. I have written a fictional biography based on his own "Declaration" and "Letter to the Soldiers of Coroticus. He is a fascinating character, far, far more interesting than the legendary figure he has become.

Sir Petroc Gray, Baronet and Commander of His Majesty's Sloop of War, Kestrel, becomes involved in some interesting activities in the Baltic during the Napoleonic War, and in the process meets his future wife, a German noble woman.

Ned Farrier is an orphan, consigned to a Workhouse Orphanage, the Beadle and his associates have plans for young Ned and his friends - plans the boys choose not to be party to. With a little help and a lot of determination, they win through.

Henry Nelson Heron has ambitions to be a Midshipman in His Majesty's Royal Navy, but he has several obstacles to overcome. First, he's Irish, the son of a retired Major now the owner of a small but prosperous farm on the slopes of Scrabo at the head of Strangford Lough. Harry's determination, the friendship of the son of his father's groom, some fortuitous encounters with people in authority, and a little sponsorship, Harry, as he prefers to be called, achieves his goal - but fate has other plans him and Ferghal ...
